イギリス人ルーシーは日本に英語の講師としてきました。

最近彼女には悩み事がありました。

（レッスン　９１）

ルーシー　：私はお金を貯めたいのに、

　　　　　　最近たくさんのお金を使っちゃったの。

　友だち　：いったい何にお金を使ったの？

　　　　　　↓

ルーシー　：I（　）（　）have been（　）（　）a（　）of money

　　　　　　（　）,（　）I（　）to（　）.

　友だち　：What（　）have you（　）（　）your money（　）?

ルーシー　：I seem to have been getting through a lot of money

　　　　　　recently, although I want to save.

　友だち　：What exactly have you been spending your money on?

【解説】

★seem to＝～であるようだ、～みたいだ

　＊この意味には“知らず知らずのうちに、そんなことになっている”

　“その事は驚きです”という意味が含まれています。

　例ーI seem to have cut my finger.＝私は指を切ったみたいです。

　＊指を切ったけど、”いつ切ったか、どの様にして切ったかわからない”

　　という意味が含まれています。

　例ーWe seem to have got lost.＝私たちは道に迷ったようです。

　＊自分は自分達が正しい道を行っていると思ったが、

　　今、正しい道を行っていない事に気づきました。

★getting through ＝（お金を）使う

　＊これは熟語です。

　例ーHow much money do you get through in a typical week?

　　＝あなたは一週間でいつもどのくらいお金を使いますか？

　‘get through’ のところに‘spend’を使うこともできます。

★a lot of＝たくさんの

★recently＝最近、この頃

★although＝～だけれども

★want to＝～したい

★save＝（お金を）貯める

★exactly＝正確に、厳密に

★spend～on ＝使う、費やす

♪雑学を学ぼう！♪

みなさん、一般的に日本人はイギリス人よりもたくさんお金を貯めているっ

て知っていましたか？

みなさんもご存知の通り、日本人は年金の事を心配しています。きっとイギ

リス人も同じだと思います。しかし、概してイギリス人は日本人ほどお金を

貯める事ができないと思います。その理由はいろいろあります。例えば、給

料の金額の差、税金のレートまたは生活のスタイルです。私にとっては、イ

ギリス人はお金を結構興味深く使っています。例えば、趣味とか旅行などで

す。

基本的にイギリス人は日本人よりもお金を娯楽に使っていると私は思います。

もちろん、人によりますが、イギリス人は日本人よりも彼らの生活を楽しみ

方を知っていると思います。

Hello, everybody!

Did you know that, generally speaking, Japanese people save much more

 money than English people?

　　　　　　　　　＊＊

As you know, Japanese people are very anxious about their pensions.

I’m sure English people also feel the same. However, by and large,

they can’t save as much as Japanese people. I think there are various

reasons here, such as salary levels, tax rates and lifestyle. In my

opinion, English people spend their money quite interestingly – for

example, on their hobbies or travelling. Basically, to me, they spend

more money for pleasure than Japanese people.

Obviously it depends on the individual, but I think English people

know how to enjoy their lives more than Japanese people.

★by and large’＝概して

　＊代わりに ‘generally speaking’を使うことができます。

　例ーGenerally speaking, children enjoy playing games of make-believe.

　　＝一般的に、子供は～ごっこをする遊びが好きです。

Scone party in Kaijin!

We had a Scone party in Kaijn today!

We had a nice time!!!

Lalaport

I went to Lalaport with my mum and my friend yesterday.

It’s very big, isn’t it?

Somebody like me who has no sense of direction struggles to find out which way to go!!!

We had dinner in an organic vegetable restaurant.

We really enjoyed the food there!

ネイル★　テーマは「秋」

前回のネイルから、2ヶ月ぶり位にネイルを変えました。

ネイルを変えない間は、自分でネイルを取ったりもしなかったので、Kidsレッスンの時に、「まだその爪なの～？？」「なんで変えないの～？」「まだそれ～？」と、ほぼ毎週言われてました。Kidsのつっこみって、正直で面白いんですよね。

今は秋真っ只中という事で、軽く秋色ネイルです。

レッスンの時お会いする生徒さん達からは、「今までの中のMisatoネイルでベスト３に入るかも～。」「いつも人の斜め上を行くデザインだよね。」「やっぱり秋だからかいつもよりおとなしいね。」などなど、ご感想を頂きました。ありがとうございます。

8月に演奏した曲を11月1日（土曜日）に学長行きつけの居酒屋で演奏することが決定しました！

学長のお友達が、8月の錦糸町ライブに来れなかったという事で、じゃーやろっかってな事になりました。

The Republic of Mali!

One of my free talking students is planning to go to the Republic of Mali.

It’s in Africa! Actually, I didn’t know even the name.

She goes to very interesting minor countries so her stories are very fascinating to me!

Apparently, it takes 2 days to get there from Japan.

The waiting time is very long, she said.

I was really amazed to hear that!

Lucky day!

My sister phoned me early this morning, which woke me up.

Actually, I wanted to get up eariler than usual today so it was good for me.

She wanted to bring a lunch box for me again so she wanted to check if I had already got up or not.

I’m very pleased with it.

I really appreciate it!

Today

I popped to my father and grandmother’s graves this morning to pray and place some flowers.

I also cleaned them. It’s a beautiful day so it was suitable for visiting their graves, I thought.

The weather

It’s been terrible, hasn’t it? But it finally became clear this afternoon.

Apparently, it’s going to be sunny tomorrow so I can do the washing, which I desperately want to do.

I can also jog which I couldn’t do this Monday.

I always jog on Monday except rainy days.

Oh~ I really want to do it and refresh myself!!!
