　　　　　私、結構かわいかったでしょ？

生徒　　：うん、そうだね！あなたはとてもかわいかったよ。

　　　　　あーでも髪の毛の色が違うね！

みなさん、あまり多くはありませんが、イギリス人の赤ちゃんの中で子供にな

る時までに髪の色が変わる赤ちゃんがいるって知っていましたか？

　　　　　　　　　＊＊

通常、明るい髪の色をしている子供は、大人になるにつれて髪の色が濃くなる

と言われています。誰も明確な理由は解りませんが、髪の色素の水準に関連し

ていると思われています。

もっと詳しく言うと、１つの説は、色素細胞が時を経て発達し、子供の髪にも

っと色素をつくるために髪の色が濃くなるのです。明るい髪は基本的に色素の

水準が低いのです。ブロンドの赤ちゃんが濃い髪の色を持つ子供に変わるのは

おかしい事ではありません。実際、ほとんどのヨーロッパのブロンドの髪の赤

ちゃんは、ブロンドの髪の色を持つ大人にはなっていないと言う人もいるんで

すよ。

Hello, everybody!

Did you know that some English babies’ hair changes colour when they

become children?

It’s said to be common for children who had very light coloured hair

when they were babies to acquire darker hair as they get older. Nobody

knows the precise reason for this, but it’s thought to be related to

pigment levels in the hair.

To be more specific, one theory is that, as pigment cells develop over

time, so they produce more pigment in a child’s hair, thus causing it

to darken. Light hair is basically hair that has a low pigment level.

It’s not unusual for babies with blonde hair to grow into darker-haired

children. In fact, some people have claimed that most blonde European

children become non-blonde adults.
