ルーシー：コーヒーをお客さんに出す事に凄くわくわくしているのですが、

　　　　　今までそういう仕事をした事がないのでお客さんの前で失敗を

　　　　　してしまうのではないかとちょっと心配なのです。

　　　　　何かアドバイスを頂けるでしょうか？

上司　　：気持ちは分るけど、リラックスしてお客さんとお話しするのを

　　　　　楽しんで！

ルーシー：I’m so excited about serving coffee cos I’ve never done this

　　　　　kind of job before but I’m a bit worried about making mistakes

　　　　　in front of the customers.

　　　　　Could you give me some advice, please?

上司　　：I see what you mean,

　　　　　but just relax and enjoy talking to them!

★be excited about＝～にわくわくする

★serve＝（飲食物を）出す

★I’ve never done＝私はした事がない

★a bit＝ちょっと

★be worried about＝～を心配している

★make mistakes（複数形）＝失敗する

★in front of＝～の前で

★customers（複数形）＝お客

★Could you～？＝～をして頂けませんか?

★advice＝アドバイス

　＊スペルに気を付けて下さい。

　　名詞は “advice” で、動詞は “advise” です。

★I see what you mean, but～＝気持ちは分るけど、

　＊‘I see what you mean but・・・’

　A：It’s a pain having to move offices.

　 ＝会社の引越しは、本当に苦痛だよ。

　B：I see what you mean,

　　 but the new place is much better than this one.

　 ＝分るけど、新しい所はここよりも凄く良いよ。

★relax＝リラックスする

★enjoy＝楽しむ

★talk to＝〈人）と話す

　＊一般的に、

　　イギリス英語では、（人）と話す “talk to” 。

　　アメリカ英語では “talk with” です。

♪雑学を学ぼう！♪

みなさん、ルーシーが働いているスクールがカフェをオープンするって言った

事を覚えていますか？そのカフェは昨日、オープンしたんです！

ルーシーは楽しんで仕事をしています！先週はその雰囲気とコーヒーについて

書きましたよね？今週はそこのスコーンについて書きたいと思います。

そのスコーンは秘密のレシピで作られる伝統的なイギリスのスコーンです。そ

うです。実際にそのレシピは学長のお母さんに提供して頂いたのです。学長の

お母さんはまた、私がイギリスにいた時にスコーンの作り方をしっかり教えて

くれたのです。後に、彼女はカフェで、どのコーヒー豆を使うかを決め、今、

いろんな種類のお茶を調べている最中です。

スクールのカフェに来たら、彼女の写真が壁にかかっていますよ。私の手作り

のスコーンをいつか食べに来てはいかがですか？

Let’s learn something interesting!

Hello, everybody! Do you remember that I mentioned that the school Lucy

works for is opening a cafe? It opened yesterday!

Lucy’s been enjoying working there! I wrote about the atomosphere and

coffee last week, didn’t I? This week, I’d like to talk about the scones.

They’re traditional English scones made to a secret recipe. Well, actually,

the recipe was supplied by the school principal’s mother. She also taught

me how to make scones properly when I was in England. Later, she decided

what coffee beans we should use and she’s now checking out different kinds

of tea.

If you come to the school cafe, you can see a picture of her hanging on

the wall. Why don’t you drop in sometime and taste my home-made scones?
